Lightspark is a player that can be used in place of Adobe Flash Player. Lightspark is still in its development phase, however, it currently supports around 79% of the Flash APIs. It is open-source and free software that is released under the LGPLv3 (GNU Lesser General Public License version 3) license. It is currently a browser plug-in, written in C/C++ language, and is supported by Linux and Windows operating systems only.
Furthermore, it was released on 25 November 2010, with an aim to support all Adobe Flash formats. Lightspark plugin is supported by major web browsers like Chrome and Firefox. Since the software is still in the development phase, therefore, frequent updates are being released with enhanced functionalities. Due to the same reason, it can be used to run several files that were supported by Adobe Flash Player on limited operating systems only. However, it can provide users with some feasible media and game streaming features.
Also, as of now, it doesn’t have its own website and is hosted on GitHub.

- While testing the software by loading a number of files, none of them performed effectively. The majority of them ran at very slow speeds, with things appearing and disappearing at will. Almost every file I tried to open resulted in the application crashing.
